California Fine Wire Co. offers a variety of thermocouple and Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) materials to meet your fine wire needs.
A thermocouple is a temperature sensing device consisting of two dissimilar metals joined together at the sensing end. When the junction of these two metals is heated or cooled, a voltage is produced that varies with the temperature. Correlation tables enable an exact determination of the temperature from the measured voltage.
Along with the different types of thermocouple wires there are also different grades: “Standard Limits of Error” and “Special Limits of Error.”
California Fine Wire Company can supply thermocouple wire in both Standard and Special Limits of Error in material types E, J, K, R, S, or T to accommodate your accuracy and environmental usage requirements. Types B, C, D, and G are available with Standard Limits of Error.
An RTD is one of the most accurate temperature sensing devices available. Unlike a thermocouple that utilizes two wires of differing materials, most RTDs utilize a wire that is made from a single pure element whose resistance at various temperatures has been documented and whose resistance is predictable as temperature changes. Commonly used resistance materials include platinum (most popular and accurate), nickel, and copper.
For your high accuracy RTD applications, California Fine Wire can offer DIN grade platinum, Pure TC Platinum, high and low TCR nickel, and high purity copper; just to name a few. California Fine Wire Company offers a standard resistance tolerance of +/- 3%, with even closer tolerances achievable upon your request.
